I have officially unshelved ghostboy|inter@ctive, and is now in the second phase of it's crowd/fan funding stage.

The project will also be running on SPONSUME commencing, this evening.

After being shelved for almost 18 months, I have made some changes to its original concept. Due to the advances in mobile technology, the new concept is much more innovative and will be pushing the boundaries of mobile publishing and creativity.

This is a HUGE project, much BIGGER than I had originally planned. And, now, I want your support more than ever. Together we can make this happen. It's a dream I have had for months, and now it's time to get it realised.

NOTE: ghostboy|inter@ctive will be the new app that will become the home to all the mobile comic episodes.

Hi, everyone.

This, is my first post of 2012, so:

HAPPY NEW YEAR!

I hope that you all had a wonderful holiday, spending time with friends and family, eating, drinking and having lots of fun.

I didn't turn my laptop on for two weeks, during the holiday. I made the concious decision not to. This was time to relax and spend time with my family, something I should do more often.

It is however, GREAT, to be back working at ghostboyHQ. Sitting at my desk surrounded by paper, pens, ink and a computer screen.

I don't know how many of you who have made New Years Resolutions this year. I haven't. Although, I have made a list of objectives, that I would like to achieve. Here's a few of them: 1) To secure representation from a Literary Agent. 2) To release ghostboy in a printed format. 3) Get ghostboy|inter@ctive into production. 4) Release the second interactive children's book for Kindle.

If I can achieve these, then 2012, could prove to be a very exciting year for ghostboy.

What a day!

The first half was spent doing some last minute Christmas shopping, with my partner. We even saw Santa! I'm pleased that we managed to get everything done before the chaos ensues over the next couple of days. I believe, this is the most organised we've been in years.

Now, I'm sat at my laptop, coffee in hand, and about to embark on lots of drawing. I cannot tell you what yet, but all will become clear in the next 48 hours. In the meantime, I'm gonna leave you with today's Countdown to Christmas sketch. I hope you like it?

Countdown to Christmas sketch 2

Hi, folks:

A week today, and it will be Christmas Day.

I went to a friend's house warming last night, with my family. It was great. Lots of drinking, eating and talking. I even had a glass of mulled wine.

Woke up to a very frosty morning, this morning. Thank goodness the heating was on when I woke, because I think, I would have frozen to the bedsheets, if it wasn't. Seriously, it was that cold. Still no snow though, which disappoints me greatly, as I love the snow.

Anyway, here's today's sketch. Enjoy!

I cannot believe it was Halloween, when I last posted. Time really does fly by. Although I haven't blogged in a while, I have been busy writing and planning, which I will discuss in a later post.

As you may have been aware, myself, Robot Media and Limited Release.com recently ran a competition to celebrate the recent launch of 'Ghostboy and the Nameless Grave.'

The draw was streamed LIVE on Sunday evening from ghostboyHQ.

It's been way too long...

It really has been way too long! Well, I'm back and it feels good to be writing again.

So let me fill you in with what's been going on in the world of ghostboy...

Around mid May I shelved both ghostboy|interactive and the mobile comic so that I could focus on a new ghostboy project. Find out more here about Ghostboy and the Nameless Grave.

Now that Ghostboy and the Nameless Grave is finished, I've taken down ghostboy|interactive and the mobile comic from the shelf and have began work on them again. My plan is to have the first chapter of series 2 finished for Halloween. The ghostboy|interactive project will soon be gaining momentum again, with a new phase of fan funding to be planned for Late October, which will include some AWESOME rewards to those who come on board as sponsors.

Today sees the launch of an EXCITING new competition and interview EXCLUSIVE to Damien A. at http://limited-release.com to celebrate the recent release of Ghostboy and the Nameless Grave. So please drop by say 'hello' and try your luck.

I will also be starting my weekly LIVE feeds again from ghostboyHQ. These will be on Thursday evenings commencing in November. The exact times will be published the day prior so that you know when I'll be online.

Hey folks I have actually found the time to visit Blogsville. I hope youare all doing well?..

So what have I been doing? Why the long absence from the ghostboy blog?

Well, the simple answer is...BUSY, BUSY, ILL and then CATCH UP BUSY!!!

Before I get into my upates I would like to pay respect to the wonderful people of Japan.

When I turned on my TV Friday morning and switched over to the news channel, I was shocked by the images I was seeing. Houses, Cars Boats and even aircraft being swept through the landscape by surging sea water, like they were toys. This was not a disaster movie, this was real life. It was unbelievable.

My thoughts go out everyone in Japan.

Since my last post I have moved into my new studio, which is now the base of scarycaravan media and home to ghostboy. Hence why I refer to it as ghostboyHQ.

As most of you are aware, I am soon to be moving into a new studio space, based in the very heart of Nottingham. The past couple of days have been spent painting and decorating. Here's a couple of images I took earlier today. I'll post more as the studio becomes to look more like a studio...

One Month to go!!!...

Over the past week I've been extremely focused on promoting and trying to obtain ghostboy|interactive sponsorship. This is proving to be a very exhausting part of the project, but I know it'll be worth it in the end when my project is visualized.

The response to my sponsorship though, has been AMAZING! even in the current financial climate. Hi folks,

I cannot believe we're halfway through January already. It only seems five minutes ago I was wondering what to get my kids for Christmas!

Like most of you, I have been planning my 2011 diary dates. This includes pencilling a number of Comic Con dates. I am also putting the final production schedule together for ghostboy|interactive. The proposed start date is March 1st. You can refer to the ghostboy website or ghostboy's Facebook page for further details.

Talking of the ghostboy website and Facebook page, I have spent the past few days updating them. Something that was well overdue, and I feel great now that they are ticked off the to-do list.

I can now put more focus on finishing the inking of panels for the first chapter in series 2 of the ghostboy story. I love the inking stage. It enables me to play around with different line qualities and textures with the pens. I have always set out to create a moody aesthetic with the environment, whilst dropping in these cartoonesque characters.

The new chapter will be finished and on the desk at Robot Comics by the end of January. So the wait is almost over!

I must have been good this year!

Hi folks,

I hope you all had an AMAZING Christmas Day yesterday?

It was the first time in months that I have actually spent some quality time with my family. It felt GREAT!!!

It was around 8am, when myself and my partner were waken by our very EXCITED daughters. After a short while I managed to wake fully enough to go downstairs and see if we had been visited by good old Santa. We all stood before the tree and this is what we saw...

We all 'cheered' with excitement!

So here's what I got for being good this year:

- Yes! That is a 'ghostboy' mug you see among those awesome gifts. This particular present almost bought me to tears with emotion. I definitely had a knot in my throat!

My mug was a gift from my daughters, it was that much of a surprise my partner didn't even know about it. They wanted to get me something special, and there is nothing more special than that mug. It really is the BEST present I have ever had!!! It is such a sweet and personal thing - I LOVE IT!

( ...and, yes I like tarts! )

Today, Boxing Day, my dad is coming over. We wanted him to come over yesterday, but he had been invited out by a friend for Christmas Dinner - He said he had a great time, so that was comforting to know.

My dad's gonna be bringing over some presents, well, I say some. I have seen the bags, and boy - there's enough to make Santa feel inadequate! ; ) Obviously these are mainly for the kids.

No internet for 4 days...nightmare!!! But who gives a...it's ghostboy's first birthday!

Hi folks,

It is true, I had to sustain a whole four days without any internet, digital TV or phone. How 5h1T is that? Rather than go into the details, I am gonna move on to something much more interesting and fun.

Today is OFFICIALLY ghostboy's first birthday!

ghostboy has been haunting your mobile devices and smartphones for a whole year now. With over 30,000 chapter downloads collectively and with an average 4 star rating, ghostboy is doing extremely well. I would like to thank all of you who have downloaded any of the chapters.

Tonight I planned on holding a LIVE webcast and twitter party to commemorate ghostboy's first year as a mobile comic, but have had to change it for tomorrow due to delayed preparations, prompted by the lack of internet.

I had a Press Release go out last week to promote the event. You can view it HERE!

During the webcast you will have the opportunity to ask me questions relating to ghostboy and related projects. I will also be discussing the journey of ghostboy. How it all began, where he is now, and where I see him in the future.

Throughout the webcast I will be working on a chapter for the new series. I will also be giving away a prize: A signed original panel taken from one of the comics.

Now for something special! In the next couple of days I will be posting a series of panels taken from the opening sequence of Series 2, Chapter 1. These will be the actual panels used in the mobile comic version. This PREVIEW is also to commemorate ghostboy's first year in mobile comics.

A MaD FEW DAYS!

Hey folks,

I hope you are all well, and not getting too stressed about Christmas approaching faster than you can say 'Rudolph!' ?

Even though I am not even close to being prepared, I am looking forward to it. To be honest, it's gonna be wonderful to spend some real quality time with my kids and partner. I have been working my ass off over the past few months, so haven't spent as much time as I ought with them. They are GREAT though and so understanding, yes, I am a lucky man!

You are all aware now, that I am currently working on series 2 of the 'ghostboy' comic. Well, this had to be put on hold for a couple of days while I worked on a promotional video for my latest 'ghostboy' project: 'ghostboy|interactive. The video is for the new fan-funding site Sponsume. Like I mentioned in a previous post I want to up the ante in obtaining the finance needed to get the Animation/App project moving forward. So putting my project onto www.sponsume.com seemed like a wise move.

So the last couple of days has been, lets say a little MAD! Yesterday was a bloomin' nightmare! All I can say about it is 'Oh my GAWD!!!'

If you have seen the promotional video, you are lucky to have seen me even introduce the promo. I had put the whole of yesterday morning aside to record more 'to-camera' stuff, but after about 80 or so takes, it still wasn't happening! It was getting MESSY!!!

Rather than carry on and result in me having a breakdown, I stopped! I took a deep breath and told myself 'Jason, leave it and come back to it later on in the week!' So I have ; )

I will update the current video later or in the week, when I am acting more professional and look like I have actually slept a few hours.

The snow has thawed, and some random thoughts!

Hi everyone,

Well, its been a few days now, since I last posted on here. And yes, I have just about had time to collect my thoughts.

So, what have my thoughts entailed? Well, here's a few...

- The snow has almost melted...BUT, it should be back again towards the end of next week - Yeehaw!!!

- I am pleased that my partner, Barby enjoyed her birthday. It was on Tuesday, we had lunch out together.

- I hope that Nestor and Rebecca get back to Madrid okay?...They arrived back safely.

- I have lots of panels to work on and then ink.

So, there we have it. A few random thoughts!

Other than the random thoughts running rampageously around in my head. I have been giving some serious thought and consideration to the 'ghostboy' Animation/App Project. A project, that in an ideal world would be finished by now (It was planned for a 31st October launch). But like most creative projects awaiting finance and funding, they don't always go to plan.

What I am working on now is Phase 2 in my search for funding. I really want to get this cutting edge project into production, or at least in a state of development.

I am currently putting together a Sponsume proposal so that I can try and get funding via the 'crowd funding' route. I have almost finished putting the proposal together, I just need to make a short promotional video that will be used as part of the online pitch. The plan is to get this filmed and online tomorrow.

I will keep you all posted when the Sponsume pitch is LIVE and online.

I'm gonna get going now and continue with my ghostboy panels.

Series 2 update and losing my train of thought!

Hi folks,

December has arrived, the Christmas craziness has began and it's almost ghostboy's first year as a mobile comic - What a month!

Today's post is a quick series 2 update from where I was in my previous post.

I have completed the rough thumbnail board, with a total number of 134 panels and an animated pan of the house that will help form the visual narrative.

I am now working my way through the Layout Panels, which are drawn out using the thumbs as reference. The Layout Panels are drawn out to the correct size, using my year-old Robot Comics panel template that I made. The finished panels, will then be traced and inked for the final artwork as seen in the comic. (I will add a visual reference to this shortly).

I have now, lost my train of thought, as my friend Nestor is sat at the table. We are discussing influences, story structure and German Expressionism. Nestor is visiting the UK from Madrid with his partner Rebecca, my partner's cousin. They should be back in Madrid now, but the trouble with the Spanish ATC has meant that they are not able to fly back until Wednesday. Not that I am complaining as they make great guests.

Anyway I will continue with this post tomorrow, when I have gained my thoughts back and have done more Panel Layouts.

Hey folks,

I hope you are all well. To any of you who are having snow at the moment, I hope you're enjoying it. I love the snow! I like going for walks in it in the evening. Have you ever noticed that eerie silence you get when it snows?

Anyway this is not a weather blog, so I'll get on with what I'm supposed to be blogging about.

The past few days, as you know I have been working on the thumbs and layouts for the second series of the 'ghostboy' comic. Well, I have decided to be naughty and post a little spoiler (if I can call it that?) , a photo I have taken of a few rough thumbnail boards of the first chapter from series 2.

Another week passes us by!!!

It was a week ago since I exhibited at Thought Bubble in Leeds. And, blimey that week has gone by FAST!!!

Since I last posted I have managed to go through series 2 script with a fine tooth comb and keep with my previous draft of the first two chapters. So what I have decided to do is get these two panelled out and ready for final layouts and inking.

The first chapter is now well under way, which I am very happy about because I have given myself a deadline of completion and delivery date of 18th December.

Along with the release of chapter 1, series 2 I plan on releasing an ebook style booklet, that will be in the same format of the comics, but will contain behind the scenes photos, sketches, concepts and script excerpts. This booklet will be a reflection of the first year of 'ghostboy' being a mobile comic. He will be a year old on the 21st December.

Thought Bubble, Leeds, 20.11.2010

At last, I've actually got round to posting!

On Saturday 20th November it was the Thought Bubble Comic Convention in Leeds. It was here where I exhibited 'ghostboy' for the first time at a convention.

The day began at 4am, when I was rudely awaken by my partner's alarm. After only two hours sleep I managed to kick myself out of bed and made my way to the bathroom in a zombified manner.

Three hours and fifty three minutes later I arrived in Leeds with my partner and my youngest daughter. The three of us then, walked around the centre of Leeds like three zombie extras from Night of The Living Dead. After we walked around in a number of circles and other confused states of being, we found our destination, the venue that would become our base for the next seven hours; Saviles Hall.

Entering the venue we were greeted by a very friendly member of the Thought Bubble staff, who showed us to our exhibitors table. The setting up of the table was the easy part and all we had to do then was wait twenty or so minutes before the doors opened to the public.

As people entered the hall, it became apparent that this was going the be a very busy day. Hundreds of geeky comic fans stormed into the large hall seeking their fix of comics, books, and other types of merchandise. There were people of different shapes and sizes, ages and wearing a whole manner of interesting attire - yes I am referring to the cos-players!

There began to be a great interest in our table by the passing public, but they weren't quiet sure what it was we were exhibiting. We didn't have any books or comics in printed form, so I think people were a little confused. Then as we began to explain to people what 'ghostboy' is, they replied with excitement and intrigue, that comics could be produced in a mobile digital form other than a printed format.

At 11.45am I held a talk in the Alea Casino, where I discussed 'ghostboy'; how he came about, where he is now and what I see him doing in the future. I also discussed mobile comics in general and where I see them sit within the industry. My talk received a positive response, which I am truly grateful for, so thanks to those who attended. I am pleased I was able to inspire you.

The Vampires of Bloody Island: My review!

It was late in 2009 when I joined twitter and became a part of this great social networking community. It is there where I'd like to begin my review of 'The Vampires of Bloody Island.'

This may sound like a strange place to begin a review of a film on twitter, but...stay with me.

Like I said, it was around November, December time in 2009 when I first came across Vampires and it came in the form of a tweet from @AllinTweets which I was later discover the writer and director of the film. I can't remember the exact tweet but it mentioned something along the lines of 'pre-order your copy of The Vampires of Bloody Island.' The title intrigued me so I checked out Allin's twitter profile, which took me to his Wibbell Productions site. There I found more information relating to the film such as trailers and stills. It was there where I signed up to the mailing list to keep posted of release dates and other cool stuff relating to the film.

The following weeks I would receive regular updates to my inbox. Then the day came. The release of the DVD. It wasn't until last week though almost a year after its release I managed to get my hands on a copy.

And oh my - was the wait worth it! If you love horror, comedy and blood sucking sexiness then this film is for you! I wasn't sure what to expect with the film to be honest, even though I had seen the trailer and read so much prior to its release. Nothing could have prepared me for such a journey into such comedic horror, with tones of the classic Hammer films of the 70s.

This is a film not to be missed by Vampire lovers and Horror fans alike.

That Friday feeling!

Hi folks

Its Friday again, and yeah! I do have that Friday feeling. Probably not the same Friday feeling you would normally associate with the Friday feeling,

but I have that Friday feeling all the same. WOW! That's a lot of Friday feelings.

The Friday feeling I'm talking about is the one, where you can look back on the past week and say to yourself 'WOW! That was an intense week. I got tonnes of work done.' And thus feel like you have achieved, rather than look back and think 'mmmnnn!!!'

My work in the past week has been focused on the 'ghostboy' Halloween Special. I decided to stretch out the original story for the Halloween Special, which was just over 60 panels. Now, it is over 100 panels.

On Wednesday I worked on a design project for a client, which was a nice little days work to break up the 'ghostboy' stuff! Below is one of the images I created for the client:

I love this client. All I get to do is draw monsters.

Anyway, like I said I have been working HARD on the Halloween Special so that I get it finished in time for a Halloween release. Because you are all very nice people I am going to treat you to a couple of rough layout sketches taken from the Special. And here they are, hope you like? And yes, that IS Miranda with BIG boobs!

Hey folks,

Halloween is just around the corner waiting to pounce on us.

For me, Autumn is my favourite Season. I love to see the leaves on the ground; the oranges, reds and browns. Such warm colours for such a cold season. Autumn also hosts two GREAT festivities; Halloween and Bonfire Night.

This Halloween I will be releasing a 'ghostboy' Halloween Special. I am very excited about this special! I really want to tell you guys about it, but that will spoil the surprise I have. What I am going to do though, is show you the cover. As you will notice, I have changed the format to portrait rather than the usual landscape layout.

There may be a couple of things that I may add to the cover, but nothing major. So what you see here is the design I have gone with. Chosen from a mountain of other layouts that I had been working on.

In my next post, I will be giving you details on how you can enter a competition to appear in the Halloween Special as yourself in character form.

I am back!!!

Yes, I am back blogging at long last.

Since my last post I have been extremely busy on a range of projects, other than 'ghostboy'.

Somewhere between my hectic work schedule I managed

to get in a short holiday over in Granada, Spain. Granada is situated in the Andalucia region and is home to the beautiful Alhambra Palace, which dates back to the 14th C.

Before I update you on all things 'ghostboy' I am going to tell you about the other projects that I have been working on, and ones that I am currently working on.

I mentioned in my previous post that I had just finished work on designing a range of monsters for an e-commerce company. Here are a couple of the monsters that I designed...

I also mentioned that I had been working on concepts and character designs for an anime inspired animated music video. The concept and design work is now complete and animation of the video has began. The video is for an American based artiste named Ishii. You can find more information about Ishii here: Ishii Music.

Okay, so now for 'ghostboy.

Work is now well under-way illustrating 'ghostboy' series 2, with the first chapter in the series halfway completed. I have given myself a deadline for the second week in October, but I will keep you posted on how it's going.

Halloween is around the corner and have something exciting up my sleeve. I am currently working on a 'Halloween Special', which relates back to chapter 3 in the first series. The 'Halloween Special' is where Tristan, and Jonathan go to the school's Halloween Ball. I want to surprise you guys with this one, so I am gonna keep my lips sealed. The plan is to release this on the Android Market for the 31st October, but this has yet to be confirmed.

A month later...

...and I manage to find time to post on my blog. Can't believe it has been a month - blimey!

Time really is my enemy at the moment. I could blame myself for taking on too many projects, but hey! I like being busy. So what am I moaning for?

I have just finished a job that, well was a dream to work on. It was only a weeks worth of work, but an awesome brief and perfect for me. The brief was to design a set of monsters for a gift website. I mean, come on what a gem of a job.

I am also working on a longer commission which I mentioned briefly in my previous post, which is an anime inspired music video. My style doesn't lend itself well to anime, but with the assistance of my partner who is a Manga geek makes the whole process that bit easier. And I can tell you it's coming on a treat. At the moment this project is in the concept stage where we are designing characters, sets, props, storyboards and colour swatches.

Now for 'ghostboy' - WOOHOO!

As I mentioned in my previous post I am working on Chapter 1 updates, which are extra panels that I am adding to the existing story. Due to feedback over that last 6 months readers are wanting to see more so I am giving it to them, you and everyone! Here is a finished panel of the village, which was featured as a drawing in progress in the last post:

Hi everyone,

It has been some time since my last post. And why might that be? I am EXTREMELY busy on a couple of projects at the moment. Obviously 'ghostboy' being one of them. I am currently working on some Chapter 1 update panels. Yes you heard right. I am working on a number of panels to add to the existing Chapter 1 - how cool is that? I know you guys want more so, I'm gonna give it to you. And here's a little teaser panel in the process of being inked. After the updates its 'onto the next one': 'ghostboy' series 2.

'So what else are you working on?' I hear you ask. Well, something completely different to what you see here with 'ghostboy'. I'm putting together an animated anime music video for a female artist based in the States. More on this in a few weeks or so.

A BIG apology for me not posting sooner! I have been real busy working on a number of project plans and working on 'ghostboy' series 2 draft 2. Time just seems to be slipping through my fingers at the moment, with so much to do in such little time.

I would like to make an official announcement that scarycaravan media will be exhibiting at this years Thought Bubble Festival in Leeds on the 21st November. Our main focus will be 'ghostboy', so why not pop by and see some cool stuff such as; original concept art, final inks and storyboards. Series 2 story notes

Hey folks,

The past couple of days have been spent re-writing story notes for the next series of 'ghostboy'

Series 2 is gonna be HUGE! And there are going to be some very interesting developments on so many levels. The first series enabled me to experiment with style, story and the construction of each panel. At times I would deviate from the original story because the characters developed themselves within the story as I was putting it together, which I found great because they were developing personalities.

I will be recording in my brother's studio tomorrow (visualvibeproductions), for something exciting I will reveal later on in the week.

Okay...its Friday again! Seriously where do the days go?

So, what's been happening at scarycaravan H.Q ? or more importantly with 'ghostboy' ?

Well...

It has been another busy week (probably why it seems to have gone by so rapidly). I am so thankful that I prepared myself a 'To Do' list early on in the week. It has helped me focus and stay on top of what I have had to do. There are a few things that need finishing off, but they are at a good stage.

The week began with a meeting on Monday, which was my first financial meeting for the 'ghostboy' animation project. It went well, but trying to explain how the project was going to work to a business advisor that wasn't very tech-savy was like, well, lets just say hard work. But in the end he got the idea, I think?...I hope!

Wednesday I sent off the booking form to attend the 'Thought Bubble Festival' in Leeds later on in the year. scarycaravan media will be exhibiting, with a main focus on 'ghostboy'. We may also be doing something special at the festival, so watch this space.

A small pre-production meeting was held between myself and one of the developers involved with the animation project, Jeff on Wednesday afternoon, which was both informative and inspiring. We both realised how much work is to be done in such little time.

Chapter 5 is now available on the Android Market. It is the conclusion to the first series and is probably the most intense. You can find out more on the Robot Comics site here: robotcomics.net

Okay, so like I mentioned in my previous post, Chapter 4 needed to be changed around a little due to the size of the files. What we have done is split what was Chapter 4 into two instalments. There is now both a Chapter 4 and a Chapter 5. The cool thing being, wait for it...is that Chapter 4 is FREE! How cool is that!?

Chapter 4 contains three short animation sequences to help tell 'The Story of The Little Ghost Girl', a cute little insight into how the ghost girl became a ghost and why she has come to haunt Tristan.

Chapter 5 is the conclusing in this series, which will be released next week.

My week!

The past week has been both productive and inspiring. It has been the first week in months that I have been able to focus and produce a nice volume of work.

The week began with meetings and arranging more meetings. I cannot go into too much detail regarding the meetings, but I will say this; things are getting very EXCITING!

Oh and just incase you didn't know, it was my birthday on the 16th April, so I decided to mark it with, well see for yourself...

As you will be aware from my previous posts, I have been working on Chapter 4, which has now been edited and handed over. There may be a change in Chapter 4's format, so again, watch this space.

I am now back working on applications, plans and proposals, which should take me well into the other side of next week.

It's that day of the week again - FRIDAY! And what a week it has been, a busy one for sure. To be honest it's the first FULL week I have had working in a long time. It has been GREAT!

A day without drawing!

Hey folks,

Today I have not touched a pencil, or pen, well I lie. I have been scribbling with my pen, but I have done no drawing. Yesterday I sent off the final lot of Chapter 4 files to my editor Dave, so I am now awaiting any edits ( please be nice Dave! ; )

Today I am spending time catching up on paperwork relating to the 'ghostboy' animation project. This includes applictaions for funding, business plans and applications. To be honest I think its going well! I always find it good to write down ideas and plans. It's easy to get bogged down with ideas, especially if they are floating around in your head trying to fit into some kind of order. So writing them down sure helps - gives my head space to breathe.

Anyway I had better get back to work,

I am not sure if you were all aware, but my mother had been in the intensive care since New Years Day. She had pancreatitis, which became very, very bad, which in turn began to affect her other vital organs. I wont go into too much detail, as it is very upsetting, but she passed away at 6am this morning. I had hoped that she would make a steady recovery, but the past two weeks proved to be too much for her body.

My mum initially had a bad chest, which she was administered steroids for, and one of the side effects to steroids is Pancreatitis. She never smoked nor drank.

My mum was a BIG inspiration to me and such a wonderfully warm and caring person. The world will miss her. R.I.P Margaret James 1957 - 2010

Yeah! It's true, 'ghostboy' Chapter 4 is gonna be longer than Chapter 3.

It's gonna have much more tense moments and animation sequences.

Chapter 3 will be available soon, with over 150 panels/screens.

This coming week I will be uploading a Time-Lapse video of how I work on a panel, from concept, through to completion, and yes this will be from Chapter 4, so it's kind of like a sneak peek at the same time ; ).

Original 'ghostboy' art for sale!

'ghostboy' is embarking on a new project that requires funding. To do this I have decided to make a selection of original art pieces taken from the comic, available for purchase. I am also working on a proposal to obtain funding from a couple of investors. More information regarding the project will be available soon, and regular updates will be made available on both the new 'ghostboy' site (01.04.10) and this blog.

Sketchbook Day is here again!

Hi everyone,

I hope you are all having a good week so far?

Okay, so first, a 'ghostboy' update. As you will have read in my previous post, I submitted Chapter 3 over to my editor. I had 19 edits to make, but that's okay. Some were silly mistakes I should have noticed, but hey! That's what an editor is for : ) But it now looks a million times better with those edits, so thanks Dave! : )

Like I had mentioned in an earlier post, this installment of 'ghostboy' is much BIGGER than the previous two. With over 155 panels and two animation sequences. I will inform you all when it becomes available.

Okay, now for this weeks sketch.

I decided to spend up to 30 minutes on this one. It took me between 20 and 25 minutes. No prizes for guessing who it is. Enjoy!

Well folks,

I am gonna be posting more on this later on in the week. I have also started work on Chapter 4, which has very dark elements to it. So be prepared to be scared!

'Sketchbook' Thursday has arrived again!

Hey everyone,

It's Thursday again already! Time sure is flying by.

Well, here it is, the second 'sketchbook' installment. These sketches are very quick drawings. I started with circles, which in turn became heads, so I played with this a little. All in all both sketches took no longer than 5 minutes in total. I like to draw fast in my sketchbook because this way, the drawing or sketch is less thought about, so is much freer.

Something else to mention is that later on in the year 'ghostboy' will be launching something special. It will be another arm to what is the current comic series published by robot comics. But more on this as the year begins to pan out.

So anyway, I'm gonna leave you with the drawings, and feel free to comment on any of the drawings I post, or even the blog itself.

Today is 'Sketchbook' day!

Hi everyone,

It is finally here; 'Sketchbook' day, the first in a number of Thursdays to contain sketches, concepts and thoughts taken from my sketchbooks.

Today I have uploaded two sketches taken from a recent sketchbook. The first is a 20 minute mess-about really. It looks like I was planning out a comic page, but the truth is; I wasn't! This page started out by me drawing this kid at a desk working on his computer, then I boxed the area off and drew a 'close up' of his face and so it went on until I had filled the page. I was waiting for a lift to go see my mum, when I drew this. I called it 'Hacker Kid'.

The second sketch was timed. I gave myself 15 minutes. Again, no real thought went into this sketch, all I had in mind was a face. And this is what came out onto the page...

So there we have it. The first 'sketchbook' day sketches.

So what is this 'sketchbook' day? Well 'sketchbook' day, is going to be my weekly upload of drawings/sketches or even notes taken from my sketchbook work. The sketchbook is where it all begins, the place of ideas, concepts and thought process. For me as a comic artist and animator, the sketchbook is a vital tool in the development of my work.

I'm back!

Hi everyone,

I'm back. May not be a daily blog at the moment, but I will be blogging more regularly than the past few weeks.

My mother is now on the mend (still in intensive care, but she's on the up), which means that my head is more focused.

So, anyway, my week has began by catching up with where I left on 'ghostboy' Chapter 3. It's great to be back drawing again! And Chapter 3 is coming together nicely, and to be honest I think it's looking pretty good. Sometimes when I have a break from my work, I look back on it with very critical eyes and find numerous faults with it. But this isn't the case with Chapter 3, which is a good thing.

Now I'd better go get some work done,

Great to be back and I hope you are all having a GREAT 2010 so far.

Well, its that time of year again, when we all get merry and hope for a better year in, and look back on the previous 12 months reflecting on our lives.

Tomorrow is New Years Eve. WoW! How time flies by - hey!

Anyway I just wanted to put up a quick post prior to the new year. The theme goes back to my childhood, when I used to go visit my grandparents every New Years Eve. My grandad always used to say to me this;

'If you go up the village today, you will see a man with as many noses on his face, as they are days left in the year.' Every year this would FREAK the 'ell out of me, imagining this guy with a face FULL of noses - how scary! This puzzled me for years (until last year actually - no! not really, can't believe you thought that was true).

Well in loving memory of my grandad and his yearly riddle I leave you with this quick drawing.

On the last stretch

Well, the Christmas holiday has pretty much come and gone, like a Tornado through Kansas; it came, it swept us all off our feet, and now we have landed, some of us worse for wear! Now we have New Year to look forward to.

A time to reflect on the past year, and look forward to a hopefully more possitive 2010.

So...anyway, enough banter. Let's talk 'ghostboy'!

Just as the blog title suggests...'On the last stretch' Yes it is true. I am now on the last stretch of drawing out Chapter 3. A little later than I had hoped, but hey 'it has been Christmas!' - Excuses! : )

The Journey of 'ghostboy' has began.

Back in mid September I pitched an idea to Robot Comics. That idea was 'ghostboy'

Now, after months of tweeking and edits, 'ghostboy' is now available for the whole world to see. A big thanks to Hermes and Dave at Robot Comics for believing in the idea and helping me bring it to handhelds the world over.

Originally I had intended to release both the animated series along with the comic, but I have decided to hold the animated series off until the new year, and obtain funding to produce something that is more than an animated series. I will discuss more on this subject as we enter 2010.

It is with great pleasure that I leave you with the first two chapters of the first episode of 'ghostboy' and the Christmas Special.

I hope you enjoy them.

The third chapter will be released later on in December or early January.
